Scientists are pointing fingers at our feline friends yet again. Cats can carry a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii, which can be transferred to humans. Recent research found a common link between cat owners in childhood and mental illness down the road. Researchers revealed findings that indicate that individuals suffering from schizophrenia or another serious mental illness owned cats in childhood. Other studies have also revealed that Toxoplasma gondii is associated with mental disorder. On the bright side, at least watching cat videos feels like a momentary mental healthy boost!
