Sleep Talking Facts

Sleep talking, technically known as somniloquy, affects men and children more often than women and appears to be somewhat genetic. Triggers for sleep talkers include sleep deprivation, alcohol, drugs, fever, stress, anxiety and depression. Usually, sleep talking is no big deal, but if it’s happening multiple times per week, it may be worth a trip to a sleep specialist to rule out any underlying disorders.
