In a Cornell University study, participants were led on a 2 km walk around a lake. Half were told they were going on a scenic hike. The rest were told it was a walking workout. When offered food at the end, the “exercise” group ate 35 to 124 percent more chocolate than the “scenic” group did. “Do whatever you can to make your workout fun,” says Brian Wansink, study author and Director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab. “Anything that brings a smile is likely to get you to eat less.”
