Red Wine and Your Teeth

Cavities form when specific kinds of bacteria grow into films that are difficult to kill. These bacterial communities form plaque and produce acid, which can damage teeth. New research shows that polyphenol-packed red wine is effective at killing bacteria that cause cavities. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should swish with Cabernet before bed—especially since it can stain your teeth if you don’t brush—but pour a glass and toast to good (mouth) health.
