Mehmet C. Oz, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a cardiothoracic surgeon, New York Times bestselling author and Emmy-award winning host of "The Dr. Oz Show." He is professor and vice chairman of surgery at Columbia University. Dr. Oz also directs the Complementary Medicine Program and and Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital. His research areas include heart replacement surgery, complementary medicine and health care.
Dr. Oz has written over 400 original publications and co-authored the bestselling “You” series with Dr. Roizen, including “You: Being Beautiful,” “You: On a Diet” and “You: Staying Young.” His latest releases are “You: Having a Baby” and “You: The Owner’s Manual for Teens.”
Dr. Oz received the Captain’s Athletic Award for leadership at Harvard University and was president of his undergraduate class. He received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was Student Body President, and obtained his M.B.A. from Wharton School of Business. He performed his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
In 2011, Dr. Oz received a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host, and “The Dr. Oz Show” received a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative. “Forbes” named him the third most influential celebrity in 2010 and “Time” honored him as one of the 100 Most Influential People in 2008. He also hosts a talk show on Sirius XM Radio’s “Oprah Radio” on XM Channel 156 and Sirius Channel 195.
Dr. Oz and his wife, Lisa, have four children, Daphne, Arabella, Zoe and Oliver.
