Our Self-Image Expert
Heather Quinlan is YouBeauty’s Self-Image Expert. She has over fifteen years of experience providing psychotherapy in inpatient and outpatient settings covering a wide range of issues. Heather is currently in a group outpatient practice outside of Hartford, CT, where she primarily treats adults, couples and adolescents. She specializes in self-esteem, self-presentation and body image issues, eating disorders, relationship and family issues, depression, anxiety, trauma recovery and self-harm. She also works extensively with individuals who are dealing with the pressures inherent in demanding professional and academic environments.
Heather specializes in divorce-related issues, and is a counselor in her practice’s PEACE Program (Parents Equally Allied to Co-Parent Effectively). She serves as a divorce consultant, and volunteers her time as a Special Master in the regional family court.
In 2013, Heather launched BluebirdPages.com, where she writes about topics such as relationships, sadness, food, weight, body-image, stress, work, self-esteem, trauma and self-care.
Heather obtained her B.A. at Vassar College in New York, and her M.S.W. from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Prior to pursuing her Master’s Degree, she earned a J.D. at New York University and practiced law for several years.
In addition to direct clinical work, Heather presents on a variety of mental health and emotional wellness related topics, both in person to various groups, and on television to a broader audience. One of her guiding principles is balance as a unifying concept, informing and incorporating all aspects of an individual’s life. Heather encourages manageable and enduring choices and changes, toward the goal of overall personal wellness.
