Woman’s Day magazine has been providing women tips on everything from physical fitness to physical attractiveness for over 80 years. It’s only fitting that they’ve compiled the best head-to-toe beauty secrets from the past issues.

We’re going to highlight 15 of those tips here. Are you practicing any of them?

1. Nix roots
If you want to camouflage your roots, try zigzagging your part rather than making it straight. This is perfect to implement in between color touch ups.

2. Give your hair a healthy sheen.
If you have straight hair, brush it from roots to ends every night. This distributes the natural oils through all your hair strands leaving it with a healthy sheen.

3. Hold your ends.
Take care of your hair ends by holding a handful of hair when you’re combing it.

4. The proper way to condition.
When conditioning your hair, be sure to really slather it on the ends. Rinse it thoroughly with cold water to seal the cuticle and promote shine.

5. Tweezers.
When tweezing your eyebrows, pluck them in the direction that the hair grows.

6. Pencil it in, not color it in.
When filling in your eyebrows with a pencil, never mess with where your eyebrows peak and never pencil the whole brow. Only fill in the holes.

7. Have wild eyebrow hairs?
Smooth them out by sparing hairspray on an old toothbrush and smoothing in the direction of the eye brow.

8. Treat eyes delicately.
Never rub the skin around your eyes, it may cause dark spots, bruising, wrinkles or sagging.

9. Use your ring finger.
This piggy backs off of the above tip. When touching the eye area, use your ring finger to apply moisturizer or concealer. It puts the least amount of pressure on that area of the skin.

10. Reduce breakouts.
Keeps hands out of your face to reduce the risk of breakouts.

11. Cover up redness.
To cover up redness or blemishes use foundation instead of concealer.

12. Pimples.
As tempting as it is, don’t pop those pimples. It may leave a tiny scar.

13. When going out for the evening…
If you’re going out for the evening, be sure to apply makeup early in the day. This gives the makeup time to settle in and look more natural.

14. Lipstick.
When applying lipstick, be sure to smile. It’s the best way to ensure you’ve covered your entire lip area.

15. Hands.
Since the skin on your hands and face are similar, treat your hands with the same care as you do your face.
