Skin Recipe: David Parker’s Pumpkin Enzyme Face Mask

Pumpkin isn’t just for pies on Thanksgiving. It contains naturally occurring enzymes and beta carotene — a source of vitamin A — as well as other anti-aging antioxidants, according to David Parker, co-founder and “Cosmetic Chef” of The Body Deli.“We also use pumpkin seed oil in many of The Body Deli’s products for its naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acids,” says Parker. “The lemon juice acts as a mild exfoliant and skin brightener.”Ingredients:

  • 1 can pumpkin pie purée
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice”¨
  • 1 tsp pumpkin seed oil”¨
  • a pinch cinnamon”¨
  • Pinch nutmeg

Place half the can of pumpkin purée in a bowl and mix in the lemon juice, pumpkin seed oil and spices. Apply the mask to your face and allow skin to absorb for 10 to 15 minutes. For a more spa-like experience, apply it before soaking in a warm tub, since steam helps the mask to further penetrate the skin and open up pores. Rinse off with warm water.
