Why going for a run helps you clear your mind and decompress.
We hear the term “BMI” thrown around all the time, but what does it mean? Your BMI, or Body Mass Index, simply shows your weight in relation to your height. This allows you to see if you’re underweight, a healthy weight, overweight or obese.
Mathematically, you can determine your BMI by taking your weight (in pounds), multiplying it by 703, and then dividing by your height in inches, squared. Is your head hurting yet? Check out the formula below…
BMI Formula:
BMI = (weight in pounds x 703) / (height in inches2)
We have a BMI calculator to do this work for you.
Find your BMI by taking our Body Health Quiz
Here’s what the resulting number means:
BMI lower than 18.5 indicates that you’re underweight.
BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 indicates you’re within a healthy weight range.
BMI between 25 and 29.9 means you’re overweight.
BMI higher than 30 indicates obesity.
These ranges could help predict your risk of health issues. In the overweight BMI range, there’s a greater chance of experiencing knee pain, depression, snoring and becoming obese. And obesity brings an even higher risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Fortunately, we provide plenty of resources for fun, actionable things you can do to remain within a healthy range. You’ll feel sexier and fitter—and have the energy to stay that way.
