Are You an Introvert or an Extrovert?
Get to the heart of what makes you who you are in order to best interact with others.
Over the summer you filled your closet with denim in a rainbow of fun colors, but now that fall is here, are you worried you’ll have to store your bright new favorite jeans away ‘til next year? Think again. We’ve got ideas to keep you in your electric blue, mint green and salmon pink jeans well into fall—and even through winter—so you can get the most mileage out of your purchase.
Life’s too short to spend the cold weather months in a basic dark wash. Bring on the color!
Electric Blue Jeans
The jeans: You wore your neon blue jeans all summer with your favorite T-shirts and tanks. So why pack them away just because the leaves are starting to turn? Try pairing neutral sweaters and jackets with your go-to jeans, and you can keep wearing them in any season.
Electric Blue + Gold
Good news if you’re a fan of shiny things: Gold is a neutral. Give your bright blue pants a dose of metallic by layering a gold moto jacket over a T-shirt. We like gold on gold, but a vintage T-shirt would look cool, too, for a more casual, rocker vibe. Add an animal-print clutch for pop and a nude-colored bootie. We’d give you first place in the fashion Olympics.
The top: The biker trend is sticking around, but it looks especially chic in shiny rose gold. Pair this jacket with your bright blue jeans, of course, but also your LBD, other favorite denim, black work slacks—pretty much everything.
The shoes: With all that shine and brightness, you’ll want to keep your footwear neutral. Try a nude-colored wedge bootie that works well not only with this outfit, but also most things in your closet.
The accessory: Bring a little animal magnetism to your look with a tortoise-print clutch. Like gold, animal prints are also considered hot neutrals for 2014, so go ahead and carry this puppy daily.
Electric Blue + A Touch of Gray
When you want to feel warm and cozy but don’t want to lose your flair, try pairing your electric blue jeans with a soft, long, gray cardigan (layer it over a white, gray or black tissue T-shirt). Give it a little fashion surprise with a pair of shocking red pumps and a great black structured bag.
The top: Yes, this style is pricy, but it will be worth every penny when you find yourself living in it. Between the cashmere, the long length and—yes!—the pockets, you’ll be wearing this investment piece for years (maybe even decades) to come.
The shoes: Sure, you could go the flats route with this outfit, but red pumps are so much more fun. The bright red patent is unexpected, paired with your colorful jeans, but the neutral gray sweater keeps things from getting too crazy. Kinda red hot, don’t you think?
The accessory: The bright jeans, slouchy sweater and red pumps could use a little seriousness, so balance things out with a simple black structured satchel. This perfect fall style looks great, whether you’re on the clock or off.
Mint Green Jeans
The jeans: There’s something soothing about this pretty pastel shade, so no, we’re not willing to part with it until next spring. Luckily, mint looks great with everything from black and camel to animal prints and red. So go ahead and play around with what’s already in your closet to put together a fall look that won’t cost you a, well, mint.
Mint Green + Camel
Black is obvious, but camel? A welcome surprise. We love the idea of mint jeans worn with a classic camel sweater and of-the-moment menswear-style oxfords. Just be prepared to pose: Street style photographers will be taking note.
The top: It’s hard to argue with a simple cashmere sweater, but when you add a kitschy embroidered camel animal applique, complete with tassels? That’s just too good to pass up.
The shoes: The oxford worked for Annie Hall and now Taylor Swift is a fan, so give your feet a break from heels and work in a cool pair of brogues. They’ll add instant fall flavor to your mint jeans, and with a neutral shade like this subtle gold, they won’t overpower your outfit.
The accessory: The baseball cap is back for fall and lends a cool, sporty vibe to a preppy look. Plus, having a bad hair day? No one ever has to know.
Mint Green + Animal Print
The top: A leopard blouse looks fierce with a mint jean. We’re purring over the semi-sheer fabric on this number, but a knit sweater, T-shirt or more structured top would work well with your mint jeans, too.
The shoes: A neutral taupe pump with a stacked heel will go with just about everything, including your mint jeans and leopard blouse.
The accessory: Add a little glamour to your outfit with a chunky gold chain-link bracelet that looks great with mint and leopard. Ree-oow!
Salmon Pink Jeans
The jeans: Most people equate a pretty salmon shade with summer, but it’s easy to toughen it up for fall. Add cooler-weather tops—think denim, knit or leather—along with flats or boots and scarves or heavier handbags to take your summer slacks into autumn and beyond.
Salmon Pink + Blue Jean Baby
The top: A chambray shirt is a must-have this season, and trust us, you’ll wear it out. Whether you prefer a Western style, something fitted or more of a boyfriend look, there’s a perfect fit out there for you. Chilly? Throw on a crewneck sweater for a little prep in your step.
The shoes: If flats are your thing, pick up a pair of some of-the-moment smoking slippers. We like the edginess provided by the studs on this pair—and how comfy they still manage to look.
The accessory: What’s not to love about a cross-body bag? They’re roomy enough to hold all of your stuff, but the extra-long strap means you can stay hands-free. This camel shade matches everything, including your salmon jeans.
Salmon Pink + Shades of Gray
Pink and gray are a classic color combo, but they’ll look new when you mix a girlie gray sweater and tough leather boots with your salmon denim.
The top: We’re a bit obsessed with this gray sweater and its embellished Peter Pan collar—and even more obsessed with how stylish it would look paired with salmon jeans. We’ll fight you for it.
The shoes: One of the best things about fall is it means we can pull out our tall boots from storage. We love the idea of this soft gray boot paired with salmon jeans—they complement both your pants and the gray sweater, but without looking all matchy-matchy. Fashion win.
The accessory: Don’t really need a jacket, but want to bundle up a bit? An infinity scarf is a fun option. It won’t add a whole lot of warmth, but a fun print will add a little flash to your outfit.
