Emmys Beauty Perfection: 13 Stars Who Totally Nailed It

Smoky eyes and nude lips won the Emmys as far as we’re concerned—it was hard to find any other makeup look (lipstick, where are you???). The hair was fun though—we saw a mix of old Hollywood glam, beachy texture, and middle parts. Which was your favorite?

1Anna Gunn

If only we could look this effortless…ever. This is the kind of hair that we *pretend* we wake up with. In our dreams, right? You really can’t go wrong with big, loose waves.

All hot tools used were T3.

2Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Proving the power of a great blowout, Louis-Dreyfus makes us want bouncy volume, ASAP. It’s youthful, looks healthy and shiny, and we love it.

3Sarah Silverman

She spent her time on the E! Red Carpet talking about her boobs (which did look good, BTW), but we have to give props to her soft waves and side part. A classic, ultra-flattering look for a reason, just about everyone looks great in this style.

4Taylor Schilling

A LOT of smoky eyes and nude lips on the red carpet, but on some of the gals it looked harsh (nude lipstick shouldn’t look like concealer, people). Schilling pulled it off because of the smudged eye makeup with slight iridescence to keep it soft, and the shell-pink lip which looks pretty, not corpse-y.

Makeup Artist Tina Turnbow created the look using Laura Mercier makeup.

Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Cocoa, Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Cognac, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Moonlight, Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black, Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Sin.

5Sarah Hyland

Top knot alert! Everything about this is perfect—the crop top, big skirt, cute hair and bold brows. The whole look is fresh and young, but totally red-carpet-appropriate.

Stylist Ryan Richman created the hair look using Dove products.

3-4 pumps of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment to her damp hair. Before blow drying each section, apply a pump of Dove Frizz-Free Shine Serum to smooth frizz and flyaways. Blow dry large sections of hair using a large boar bristle round brush, directing the hair away from the face. Use Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray while brushing to keep the hair in place. Style into top knot.

6Laverne Cox

The “Orange is the New Black” star shows it how it’s done with a modern take on Old Hollywood hair, styled by Ursula Stephen. It’s a style that could easily look Frumptown, USA, but the soft waves and slightly off-kilter part make the Vivien Leigh-esque style work.

7Alexandra Daddario

Finally, some lipstick! Daddario looks beyond gorgeous with matte red lips and luscious lashes. This is how you do it, ladies!

8Jessica Paré

In a sea of tousled waves and texture, a sleek, red-carpet-worthy updo with a deep side part looks refreshing. Flattering to every face shape and a great way to show off rich color, it’s no surprise that this style is a favorite of brides everywhere.

9Robin Wright

Yes to everything here. Sexy white suit, slicked back pixie cut and smoldering eye makeup. It’s a look not for the faint of heart, but if anyone has the confidence to pull this off it’s Wright.

Celebrity makeup artist Tricia Sawyer created the makeup look using Orlane products.

Orlane Super-Moisturizing Light Cream applied to her skin with a sponge and pressing it into her skin, concentrating a lot under the eyes. Then Absolute Skin Recovery Care Eye Contour under her eyes as well. Very light with Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and concealer.  Then Orlane Transparent Loose Powder using a brush and concentrating on the T-Zone. Orlane Bronzer to contour her face with a small angled blush brush, running it along her jawline and the hollows of her cheeks. Then Chanel blush in Rose Bronze and In Love on her cheekbones. Mac eyeliner in Power Surge and then Orlane Volume Care Mascara.

10Sofia Vergara

Everyone else can play it cool with their nonchalant waves and nude lips, but Vergara is all, I’m a glamorous star damn it and I want hair and eyes and lips. This is the hair of our dreams—volume at the crown, long and healthy with sexy curls at the bottom. Rosy lips and contoured cheeks just makes the whole situation more glam.

11Sarah Paulson

We have to be honest, Paulson partly made this list based on her Armani Privé dress—haters are going to hate, but we love to see a risk on the red carpet, lest it becomes so boring. Anyhoo, topping off a lot of dress with a sleek long bob was a smart choice. It shows off her graceful neck and doesn’t compete with the tulle.

12Debra Messing

Channeling Veronica Lake, but with that to-die-for red color, this is A-list hair if we’ve ever seen it. Big waves and a side part—how can you go wrong?

13Camila Alves

The dress was amazing, and girlfriend knows that when you’re wearing see-through cut-outs all over your body, it’s best to keep the hair and makeup sleek and simple. A straight middle part plus perfect, frizz-free strands is a look we want to wear every day.
