While we haven’t even de-pilled our cashmere sweaters yet for fall, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 has just wrapped up in New York City. But amidst all of the beautiful light, shimmery and bright colors we saw march down the runways, there is one look that you could adopt right now: a glossy black rocker eye.OK, so black liner isn’t big news, but sometimes it’s the little details that count. At Jill Stuart and Rebecca Taylor, a bit of clear gloss was layered on top of the black liner to glam it up.“The shine really elevates the look and makes it more chic,” says Sephora Artistry Ambassador Aaron De Mey, who was the lead makeup artist for the Jill Stuart spring 2014 fashion show. First, he used Givenchy Magic Kajal Pencil in Magic Black, $24, to rim both upper and lower lashes, then swept the shimmery silver shadow from the new Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-con No. 7 Plush Shadow Palette in The Starlet, $59, on the inside corners of the eyes. Then, he patted Bobbi Brown Crystal Lip Gloss, $19, on top. “This gloss creates a beautiful effect, but it’s actually quite thick so you may not want to do this in real life,” he warns.A more real way to wear it: Tap a hydrating skin serum on top, like Joanna Vargas Rejuvenating Serum, $100, which has argan, neroli, olive, jojoba and rosehip oils. Not only will you get the same effect, but you’ll also give the fragile skin around your eyes a big dose of TLC.P.S. Have a cotton swab and concealer on hand to clean up any smudges. Rock on.
