After being stuck inside all winter, most people long to take advantage of the nice spring weather to get in shape. But, how do you take the dream of getting into shape out of your head and make it a reality. Because as we all know, starting a new workout routine is easy. Keeping it up is the tricky part. And if you haven’t worked out in a while, it can be extra tricky to keep up a workout routine.

If you’re determined to start working out and not let distractions (or laziness) stop you, then check out these ways to stay motivated when working out this spring.

Start Scheduling Your Workouts:

Don’t fall into the trap of working out whenever you have time. If you do, you’ll never workout because it won’t ever be at the top of your to-do list. Schedule it in your calendar and you’ll be more likely to actually do it.

Look at Other Ways to Workout:

Mix up the way you workout. You can do gym memberships, online programs, group classes and/or personal training. This will help keep your workout interesting.

Do Short Workouts:

Doing a workout is better than no workout at all. Instead of thinking you have to workout an hour to get into shape, workout for 20 minutes. That way you can build yourself up and at least you can say you didn’t just skip the workout all together.

Get a Workout Buddy:

You may have heard this one several times, but it’s true. You can set yourself up for success by getting a workout buddy. You two can help hold each other accountable on sticking to your workout plan.

Pick Your Theme Song:

You’d be surprised at how much a simple song can change how you do things. Pick out a great song and use it to stay motivated throughout your workout.
