Look Gorgeous in Green

Forget turning green with envy. This coming year, it’s all about looking luxe by wearing emerald green.

Printing authority Pantone just announced that the vivid shade is the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year. According to Pantone, emerald green “is the color of growth, renewal and prosperity—no other color conveys regeneration more than green.”

“I prefer emerald green close to the face to exude glamour—silky emerald blouses and jewelry are my favorite way to wear this trend,” says designer Ashley Turen of A. Turen, a label known for its rocker-meets-feminine aesthetic. This statement necklace drapes elegantly over the décolletage, while the emerald studs enliven any skintone.

Brighter is better when it comes to emerald eyeshadow, notes celebrity makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor. “Be sure to buy a richly pigmented product, and apply an eye primer before using it or else dull color looks muddy,” he adds. Afraid to go green? Don’t be. “It doesn’t matter what your eye color or skintone is, it’s about wearing a pop of fabulous color on your eyes,” explains Sotomayor. “Try a thin metallic or glittery eyeliner along the upper lashline,” he suggests.
