Another day, another hateful man on Fox News. The liberal blog RawStory reports that Medical A-Team member and resident psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, summed up an argument by stating that “men should be able to veto women’s abortions.” Wha-wha-what?

The conversation was in regards to Sofia Vergara’s recent controversy with her ex-fiancé, Nick Loeb, who is suing her for the ability to implant one of her frozen embryos into a surrogate. Loeb published an op-ed in the New York Times in which he claims, “embryonic custody disputes raise important questions about life, religion and parenthood,” despite the fact that the couple “signed a form stating that any embryos created through the process could be brought to term only with both parties’ consent.” Since Vergara does not consent to having her ex-fiancé use her embryos, it seems like the main question is: Why are we even talking about this when there is a legal document that settles the issue?

After public harassment by her ex-fiancé courtesy of national media coverage, Vergara has spoken up about the issue, saying a child “needs a loving relationship of parents that get along, that don’t hate each other.”

As Gabrielle Bluestone at Gawker writes, “Still unclear is why the Times decided to furnish Loeb with a national platform to whine about voluntarily signing a contract that prohibits him from doing exactly what he’s trying to do now.”

Obviously, these arguments aren’t enough to sway a doctor who appears on Fox News in favor of a woman. Ablow stated, “[Sofia] doesn’t have 2 percent credibility in this matter…The bottom line is, why would a woman’s right to decide what to do with a frozen embryo trump a man’s right every time?” Perhaps he hadn’t been debriefed on the contract in this particular case, or maybe he just seized his opportunity to say something sexist.

Ablow continued, “If he wants to bring these embryos to term, good for him. He wants to parent. If he wants to have them adopted, good for him. It’s not a coin toss. It’s whoever wants that potential being to survive. That’s who wins.”

The icing on the cake is Ablow’s final statement on abortions, which has absolutely nothing to do with his assigned speaking topic, but why not throw in another comment that shows how much you hate women while you’re at it? “You know, I’ve been outspoken on this. I think men should be able to veto women’s abortions if they’re willing to care for the child after it’s born.”
