This week, the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau approved a product called Palcohol — yes, that extremely creative name stands for “powdered alcohol.”

You might be able to mix up your own pitcher of the boozy Kool-Aid as soon as this summer, ABC News reports. Now that it’s approved on the federal level, it’ll be up to each individual state to decide if they want to give the green light or put an end to the potential binge-drinking diesel fuel.

The packets of freeze-dried, powdered alcohol will be available in four varieties: cosmopolitan, margarita, vodka and rum. Lemon drop is next in line for approval, according to the Washington Post, because of course it is. And all you have to do is add water directly into the foil pouches that double as glasses.

A lot of people obviously aren’t too psyched about this. The biggest anti-Palcohol argument is that teens could have a heyday with this new, convenient (and easy to hide) form of booze, leading to some pretty unsafe binge drinking. It’s right up there with alcoholic whipped cream and Four Lokos, as a genius-but-probably-not-the-safest trendy new way to imbibe.

As far as safety for those of us who are responsible adults that know the dangers of chugging a packet of liquor in our bedrooms or the high school bathroom, there doesn’t seem to be anything inherently dangerous in the powder mix — at least not any more than a regular old martini.
