Traveling, eating out, and making health conscious food choices usually don’t go together. Although many fast food places are offering healthier selections on their menu, it can still be tough to decide where to eat and what to eat.

When you’re hungry, you may think you have to eat whatever you can get your hands on. But that’s not always true. The next time you travel, don’t think it’s all over for your diet at mealtime time. Here are some common fast food places that have pretty delicious and healthy salad choices:

Chick-Fil-A: The Grilled Market Salad: This salad is loaded with fresh apples, blueberries, and Harvest Nut Granola. That with a little grilled chicken added makes this salad hearty and scrumptious.

Wendy’s: Wendy’s offers an Apple Pecan Chicken Salad that’s pretty good. It has fresh leaves, apples and pecans. The sodium levels of the chicken in this salad are a little high, but better than the other salad selections on the menu.

McDonald’s: I know you’re rolling your eyes when you see McDonald’s, but when you’re on the go, and this is the only place around, you have to make the best of it. McDonald’s serves a Southwest Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Salad. It has corn, beans, pepper, and chili lime tortilla strips.

If you can, also prepare your salads ahead of time and take them with you. Here are a couple of suggestions: Greek Chopped Salad with Grilled Pita, Black and Blue Steak Salad, Grilled Lemon Chicken Salad, and Kale and Beet Salad.
