Cholesterol, in large amounts, can be harmful but, when consumed moderately, it is essential to our body's healthy functioning. Cholesterol is made from carbohydrates, proteins and fats before it is reconfigured into droplets and released into the bloodstream. From there, the droplets travel to the liver where they become HDL, which can then be used by the body's cells.
