If you’ve been caught out in the sun and want to minimize your chances of looking like a red-hot lobster later, try this homemade soothing ointment. “The milk proteins will help soothe inflamed skin, and the berries contain high amounts of ellagic acid, a type of antioxidant that’s been shown to help protect skin cells from the effects of UV rays,” says Wu.
1 cup ripe seasonal berries (raspberries, strawberries or blackberries)
1 cup cold plain Greek yogurt
Mash together one cup of berries with one cup of cold plain Greek yogurt. Apply to sunburned skin the minute you get inside. Store in the refrigerator and apply every few hours as needed. Note: If you have blisters or open areas of skin, see a doctor first; do not apply.
