Skin Recipe: Jonathan Dubuque’s Avocado Body Mask

Get some olive oil and avocado for a mask that softens and brightens skin.

Transform a tight, dry hide into ridiculously soft, smooth skin. This easy treatment uses overripe avocados and olive oil to hydrate the skin—and moisturize your hair to boot.

“Avocados are full of healthy fats and phytonutrients, and the avocado’s oil is actually used as a treatment for dermatitis,” explains Jonathan Dubuque, co-founder of Level Naturals. “Olive oil is rich in antioxidants, nutrients and vitamins that are great for your skin. It has vitamins A and E, as well as polyphenols that are renowned for their ability to postpone aging.”

The mask also contains sea salt and lemon juice, which has skin-smoothing alpha hydroxy acids. “The lemon helps evict the dead skin cells and make room for new cell growth,” explains Dubuque. “It also brightens the skin and is an amazing natural astringent.”

The result? “You will be smooth, crazy moisturized and have a fantastic glow!” he says.

Ingredients:

2 very ripe avocados

½ cup fine sea salt

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp lemon juice

Mix avocado, olive oil and lemon juice together in a bowl (try to resist the temptation to eat it). Once evenly mixed, cover entire body, including hair and let sit for 15 minutes. As you rinse off the mask in the shower, use the sea salt as an all-over, light exfoliator.
