i have the hanging gut, you know when you can lift up your belly? well what can i do to get rid of it or is it just always gonna be there because the skin is stretched out? if it werent for that i'd probably be a much smaller size but i have to find clothes that fit over and that look decent, not always an easy thing! i;ve been slowly losing weight but it seems to mostly be coming off the back and not the front as much lol. and i know that this is the worst kind of fat, belly fat-harder on the heart and all, so if anyone has any advice please help!! i see some women who dont seem to care and wear short shirts or their pants under the belly but i'm just not that brave lol

Well, you need to provide more information to get a decent answer here. Is this gut still there after a large weight loss, or is weight loss the first issue you need to address here? It could be something that could be solved only by surgery, or by altering your eating patterns and exercise habits.

Go on a diet. Losing weight and that gut can take time.

3 kids and a hysterectomy didn't do as much destruction as turning 50 and sitting at my office desk.

I was a size 6/8 with no belly fat at 49 and very muscular, but it seemed to change overnight.  I did over

100 crunches a day, lift weights, bike, and nothing helps....its time to go to a plastic surgeon!

OK, no offense, but why do people feel the need to put such a common sense answer. You said you are working on losing weight already... so obviously you don't need us to tell you to lose weight. Different people's bodies are predispositioned to distribute weight evenly. This is especially so in women. While typically women gain weight in their butt and thighs first, some gain it specifically in the mid-section, while others gain it in their back or breasts. It seems that you know where it goes, so I would suggest exercising if you are not already, and try exercises that may target your problem area in addition to regular cardio. Also, certain foods are better for losing weight. Specifically, high protein diets are often helpful when trying to lose weight in the belly area. Also, check the amount of sleep you're getting. Stress and a lack of sleep cause the body to produce cortisol which stores fat in the mid-section. One way to reduce this is to get more sleep & exercise.

I need HELP also...I am 51 and for the last three months I have changed my diet tolots of vegetables, fish, fruits and I snack on almonds and have my greek yogurt. I exercise five days a week , one hour on the thread mill using the interval setting so I walk fast and jog in between, then I do weights. The problem is my weight keeps going up and down. I have not seen any significant weight loss.

This question is for Keeper what are the good fats you consume and how do you incorporate it in your diet? Oh congrats on your weight loss.

This is my problem area too, I seem to be losing weight from all over my body except my belly that hangs on like a tire superglued to me. I've been reading and watching Dr. Oz and the Doctors. There are many procedures that can be done in a doctor's office, which I don't have money for. They all say heat and massage can help along with exercise and a correct diet. So after a workout and shower, I massage St. Ives collegen lotion and Bio Oil into my belly and sit with a heating pad on my belly and another one on my back. Even if it don't help with reducing fat, at least I'll have a relaxed, warm and soft belly & back!

Im 15 years old and weigh more than I should for my height. I have "bigger people" genes and have been fighting against it for years. Im a dancer , and since I stopped dancing to focus on my school work I've gained all the weight back. My solution was to start dancing again, so I did. I've been dancing once a week and walking a few miles twice a week. All my regular bus rides have become walks and I've been exercising at home when I have the chance (im very busy with work this summer). I really want to drop around 30 pounds because Im having a sweet16 in December and i want to look beautiful everywhere. I know its possible but I want to know how i should approach it because nothing seems to work. I don't want to be the crazy teenage girl starving herself when she LOVES food. I need a new approach Undecided. Im more bottom heavy than I am top and but i want too lose some of the booty and tone the tummy...any ideas?

to joeygaines96. What's your diet like? I would reccommend cutting sugary foods-soda pop, candy potato chips, all that junk food is really bad for you, greasy food as well. You're not going to lose weight if you eat fried chicken all the time. Eat more veggies and fruit. Lunges and crunches will help with targeting. To be perfectly honest though, be realistic about your weight loss goal. Don't go 'I want to lose 50 pounds in 3 months' or something. Take it easy, weight loss takes time. Find clothes that will flatter your figure, so if you're bottom heavy then don't wear skin tight clothes, wear something that flatters and alludes to you being thinner than you really are. Hope this helps.

joeygaines96, first don't stress about it. You seem to be doing a good job right now. Don't stop. Just keep junk food low. Keep sugar intake low but, don't stop completely because you don't want to get hypoglocemic attacks. Keep on exercising. It will take time. But you'll get there. I did. Get enough sleep and drink enough water. That does help. You are doing a good job, hang in there. I lost about 80lbs. It took a long while. But you said you just want 30 off, It won't take as long. Just keep doing what you are doing. Good luck!!

the worst is to give up....keep going to reach your goal...whatever it is!  Be proud of yourself when you are achieving your goal!  When you reach it...instead of eating something, buy yourself some pretty outfit or a pair of shoes you have been wanting!  Switch your gifts you give yourself!  Maintain your weight!  Weigh yourself often so it doesn't get out of control again. Give yourself kudo's and love yourself ....you will do fine!
