I have also been told squats and stairmaster.
I acutally train on the stairmaster 3x' wk and it has help me with my abs and also with lifting an toning my rear. I just recently got a personal trainer and we work on legs and butts everytime. He says this is the only way my rear will stay toned and lifted.
Also, I would like to add, you can't really make a bigger butt because its mostly genetics, but you are able to tone, lift, and tighten.
Be very careful of what you wish for. LOL I am 60 years old, and weighed 97 pounds and was 5' 5" for many years. I looked skeletel at the time. Really sick and I wanted to gain a little weight. Well, I got what I wished for, and more! I now weigh close to 150 pounds and have shrunk an inch. Even though everyone tells me I look good, I look fat to me. I really would love to lose 20 pounds. I am trying to eat less and move more. I am hoping that this will help me. I don't believe in "DIEting" Yes, I know I put the first 3 letters in caps. But that is what I think when I think of DIEt. Just watch what you eat and move more. I also try to drink a lot of water. Or no calorie drinks.
I've always heard squats, lunges and planks will do the trick. Not necessarily bigger, but toned and lifted (which I'm sure gives the appearance of bigger).
What everyone else has said, exercise it
or get surgery, the brazilian butt surgery...

i cant imagine why anyone would want a big butt.
If you're trying to tone your butt more, the first thing you should do is change up your eating habits. Secondly, start doing squats with and without weights. If you go to bodybuilder.com they have a slew of workouts for different parts of your body. I hope this works for you!
