Just to give you a gist of the situation, I'm a 19 year old female, 5' 2" and 98lbs, my body fat percentage is 11% which is lower than the military wants for even the male recruits, I desperately need to increase my Body fat percentage, but in a healthy manner. I eat nearly non-stop and out eat most guys my age, but I cannot gain weight nor gain body fat, I am at a point to where it is unhealthy for me. I do not run eight miles or anything like that on a daily basis, I walk maybe a quarter mile a day, and yes most people say to build muscle mass and not body fat if you want to gain weight, but I am below a healthy percentage and need the body fat. I have never had any eating disorders (unless you consider about 20 lbs of food a day a disorder) and even as a child had issues gaining weight (I was 38 lbs and 3' 5" at 5yrs old). I cannot for the life of me figure out why I can't gain weight I eat rice and pasta on a daily basis and dairy products on a daily basis no help. I eat fairly healthy but need to gain weight or else I will not be able to join the military (I would like to do it the natural way and not take the pills my recruiter gave me to add water weight) Thanks

I am the same way and it can be so frustrating, I know! I drink protein and carb supplements on top of my regular food intake (you can find all kinds of these at any vitamin or nutrition store), and when I exercise I avoid a lot of cardio because cardio burns fat!... And never say no to chocolate cake :) These things have gained me a few pounds hope it helps!
