I am trying to determine whether the training I am doing for a 1/2 ironman triathlon is having a detrimental affect to my health. I got my second attack of shingles (I am only 42) in the past 7 months both during high training periods, at the same time as I have increased training I have had increased digestive issues. Could all of this be related to training for increased duration - 10-12 hrs aerobic per week or not?

hello, what i think you should do is talk to a doctor. I love to work out also, but 10-12 hours maybe isnt that bad on your body. i am not a doctore but maybe somthing els could be going on. Try talking to a doctore and ask the doctore questions for things you could do to still train, but in a better way maybe. It could also be somthing that you are eating? possibly. I hope things will get better for you.
