I don't want to bulk up. Will weight training make me do that? I've heard that it's good for bones.

    It won't!

I used to think the same exact thing, but I was proven wrong by a friend of mine whose boyfriend happens to be a personal trainer. Women aren't built to get bulky. We don't have the right hormones and therefore our bodies won't allow us to. I'm sure you've seen scary looking, body-building women, but they became that way via use of steroids and/or excessive training. So no need to worry about looking bulky, weight training will be beneficial for you, so long as you don't overdo it.

Weight training will build muscle, which we all know takes up less space than fat in the body. It will make you leaner overall, and will also help you burn more calories on a daily basis. It takes a lot for women to get bulky. A lot. Definitely start adding in some weight training, and you'll be surprised by how quickly your body tightens up.

Weight training or lifting tones your muscles and makes you stronger.  I do Bodypump four times a week and I had never been this strong.  Of course, I have more toned arms and legs and your muscles get harder, but nothing to worry about..  Also, you burn more calories and if you add music while trainig, the whole hour goes by fast!

Well for me, it didn't. Actually, my body began to show more form and I looked much healthier.

Depends on the type of exercises you do.

    Hi,

Unless you are training to become Miss Olympia! Which is not the case. Aside from hormones, these days we can get our bodies to do things and look like almost anything(with the right aids) (most are illegal as we have seen and read)...performance enhancing drug we refer to then as.

Just simply watch your food consumption....moderate, don't eliminate any of the main food group from your diet (unless you are allergic)..For example, too much carbs could bulk you up depending on your body type, so eat everything in moderation, drink lots of water, stay away from pop-period. Dilute 100% juice for less sugar consumption, and do more reps with lighter weights. Heavier weights and more reps  COULD ...bulk you up..Good luck and let us know how you are doing ok? Take care!
