How can I get him to talk?

So, a little over a week ago, one of my guy friends figured out that I have a crush on him. We get along really well and hang out all the time, playing on sports teams together and grouping up for class trips. We're going to different colleges in the fall, only half an hour apart, and I understand that now is probably not the best time to start a relationship. He told one of my friends (who knows that I like him) that he thinks I like him. But, now he hasn't spoken to me about it. Also, we work in different departments at the same store. We actually haven't spoken at all since he figured it out. I think it would be best to just say something to him and make sure that things aren't awkward between us. I am fine with not being in a relationship, but want to make sure that we are still friends. What is the best way to approach him to talk to me? I'd like to do it in person, but I think he's afraid to talk to me because I might profess my undying love for him or something (which I am not going to). Any suggestions on getting him to listen to me?

  First...you said that you want to do this in person (which is good) because sometimes when you let someone in...it gets worse

  i am not trying to make things complicated to you but...friends ...then someone liked the other one...things should be awkward..and probably this is what he felt since you said you haven’t spoken to each other since he figured it out

  so..the best way to let him listen to you is to face him and talk about what he felt about it..

  and if you felt any rejection.... that might be better for you.....and you may find someone even better in college...who knows?
