I would recommend that instead of trying to lose weight, try to nurture your body as it is. Being skinny won't stop diabetes, being heathy will. Halle Berry is skinny and she still got diabetes. It isn't how you look on the outside but what is going on inside your body. Eating heathier not only will help you lose some weight but it will help against diabetes. You could exercise too because it is good for you heath. My family also has a history of diabetes and I have large hispanic thighs. I know you may look at other girls and think they are skinny but you are beautiful too. There is nothing wrong with having a little curves. Embrace them. In time your body will mature (you are only 12 almost 13). When I was your age ( i'm 17 now) I felt the same way. I hated my body. but as I got older my body slowly changed and my self- confidence gained a boost and now I appreciate the curves I have. Your body will grow to the shape it is supposed to be. Not everyone is made to be toothpick skinny.
