As a first step, try taking our body health quiz (http://www.youbeauty.com/quizzes/body-health) to make sure you're actually underweight. If you are (or even if you just want to put on a few pounds), it's important to gain weight without sacrificing your health. Snacking on potato chips all day might add pounds, but it won't be good for your body. Instead, snack on nuts and avocados since they're calorie-dense but good for you. You can also just increase your portions of the usual foods we recommend--fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and legumes. If you feel like you're eating a lot without gaining weight, there might be something else going on. Some medical problems (like a thyroid disorder) can make weight gain really difficult, so mention to your doctor that you're struggling to gain weight and see if he/she has some insight.

I would say to not worry about how much you weigh. Worry about your body-fat ratio and other ratios which are determinants of disease risk, then go forward from there. It may just be the whole teenage metabolism.

Unless you are really tall (like 6 ft), you are already at a good weight. I am 5"7" and I weigh 125. I am 43. My thyroid was malfunctioning but I am genetically thin. Don't worry about it. Your weight is healthy

I would suggest trying to monitor you calorie intake and how many calories you burn in a day. A lot of the time, people either eat less calories than they think they are or are burning off a lot more calories than expected. In order to gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn off. Remember to eat healthy calories. Part of the problem may be genetics, if you just have a really high metabolism it's going to be really hard to put on weight (I have the same problem, I'm 93lbs and will probably never break 100lbs). Like others have mentioned, you could have a thyroid problem which you should talk to your doctor about. Lastly, you're still a teenager, you're body is changing. It's not going to do what you want it to and your metabolism will probably slow as you age. You might just have to bare the curse of the skinny for the time being (I know your pain).

I weigh 101 and am 5.5" so you're better off than me. Worry less about your appearance and just enjoy life. You aren't underweight, you're just not fat, (which is healthy)
