Happy Eyebrow Intervention Day!

To encourage women to stop over-tweezing their brows and embrace full, sexy, face-framing eyebrows, celebrity makeup artist and brow guru, Ramy Gafni, has teamed up with LOOK Boutiques—at Duane Reade and Walgreens stores—to host the 4th Annual Eyebrow Intervention Day today, Friday, June 13, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at LOOK Boutiques nationwide.

Ramy Beauty Therapy brow experts will be on hand to give free brow consultations and shapings. Walk-ins are welcome or you can schedule an appointment ahead of time and avoid the lines. Click here for a complete list of participating locations.

Even if you can’t make it in for a complimentary shaping, you can still participate today—by finally pledging to stop over-plucking.It’s important to avoid over-plucking for a few reasons, Ramy tells us. “If you continuously over-pluck, eventually your brow hairs may stop growing in altogether.” Seriously. You’re going to regret it. And if regrowth isn’t an issue, you want to avoid getting too tweezer happy so that you don’t end up looking consistently sorry or perplexed. Kind of like bad Botox. Not cute.

“Conversely, a well-shaped eyebrow can make you look younger and more expressive,” Ramy adds. Brow Intervention Day is your golden opportunity for a makeover that’ll lift, shape and style your brows, whether they’re victim to your heavy tweezing or you just want to learn the best way to shape and fill them in at home.

Ramy, who tends to A-list brows like Claire Danes’ and Nicole Richie’s, recommends always taking a conservative approach when it comes to tweezing or trimming. “Follow nature! Eyebrows that follow your bone structure will always be flattering,” he says. “When in doubt, don’t pluck it out!” Stick to stray brows that fall outside your natural brow’s outline, and don’t try to drastically change the shape.

As far as science is concerned, the reemergence of full brows as the “it” look is the best thing to happen for trend-conscious ladies everywhere. As your brows age, they also thin (sadly, all of your hair does), so sparse brows give the illusion of older age. Thinning can also be a sign of a hormonal imbalance and a few other health problems, so plucking to the point of no return won’t do you any favors if you want to look young and healthy.
