All that shimmers isn’t gold, unless you’re talking about Pat McGrath’s new make-up craze, Gold 001. It’s literally the best thing since sliced bread – in the make-up world at least. And if you aren’t sure who Pat McGrath is by now, she’s responsible for many of the hottest beauty trends in the past decade including products from Cover Girl, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci.

She’s using her Midas touch these days to create her own product line launching in late 2016. The first product from the line, Gold 001 made a debut on the runway for the Spring 2016 collection at Prada and was also used on Kim Kardashian West during a photo shoot.

And even though it’s completely sold out (there were only 1000 samples), you still deserve to know what all the sparkly uproar was about. With a versatile pigment and flawless finish this product can be mixed up in either small or large quantities. Achieving either a faint sparkle or an intense metallic shine is as simple as the swipe of a brush.  The gold set comes complete with magical mixing liquid, gold sequins, a plastic mixing container and a metal spatula.

McGrath had this to say in a press release, “Gold 001 looks like pure metal, foil, gilding, brilliance. I have been working in the labs for years to see a pigment with this finish – I knew once I touched it that it was major; there is something magnificent about its pure form that leaves me breathless.”

She is clearly planting her stake in the competitive makeup space.
