Hey now, hey now… This is what OUR dreams are made of: A Lizzie McGuire Reboot.
Fifteen years after we tearfully bid Lizzie McGuire adieu, Disney+ is making our dreams come true with a reboot. Disney+ revealed in a statement how the series will “introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie.” So, what do we know about the new series so far?
Disney+ hasn’t revealed too much about the reboot, but we do know a little bit about the exciting plot. According to a statement from Disney+, it will “revolve around Lizzie as a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in New York City.” Meaning we’ll still be seeing iconic fashion and classic Lizzie behavior, but it’s going to be more modern (and with an adult job and boyfriend).
Nothing is worse than a reboot of a show that doesn’t include the original cast members- but thankfully, we don’t have to worry about that with Lizzie McGuire.
One thing we can be guaranteed with this reboot is the classic and incredible cast members from the original. Hilary Duff will still be playing sassy Lizzie, and the entire McGuire family is coming back too (fingers crossed for more pranks from Matt). And the best part- Adam Lamberg is making a comeback as Lizzie’s sidekick and secret admirer we all know and love, Gordo.
Rumor has it Lizzie is engaged to someone else at the start of the reboot, so sorry Gordo and Lizzie shippers, that ship has sailed. Or has it? Guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
As for the premiere date of the show, we’re not entirely sure, but we have our bets placed for at some point in 2020.
The shows official synopsis reads: “With a little help from her friends, her loving family, and her 13-year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood.”
Lizzie was there for us through the ups and downs of our childhood, and I’m so happy she sticking with us.
