We’re basically back in the Stone Age: Celebrities are not allowed to take photographs inside the event at this year’s Met Gala.
Page Six reports that guests received a notice forbidding photography along with their arrival information: “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala.” That means no Taylor-Swift-photobombing-Gisele selfies, people. And don’t even think about all those potential Kim/Kanye Instagrams, lost forever.
Anna Wintour and Vogue may be to blame for the rigid ruling, since they’re filming a documentary at this year’s gala. (Smart; after last year’s Beyoncé-Jay-Z-Solange elevator moment, this night should clearly be made into a movie.) The gala is themed “China: Through the Looking Glass” and kicks off the Chinese-themed fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The names of over 100 VIP guests, as well as the host committee, have already been released thanks to Fashionista. Familiar names include Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Dakota Johnson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Seth Meyers, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne and a whole lot more designers and fashion industry players.
The New York Times reports that there will be 500 guests from all high-powered walks of life from film to tech and fashion in attendance, with 255 “approved photographers, reporters and even tweeters and Snapchatters” to record the beautiful peoples’ movements. So don’t worry — even if there will be no selfies, there will still be pictures.
