Have you ever been told that you’ll never have that “hour glass figure”? That a slim waist and accentuated hips just wasn’t in your genetics? If so, you’re not alone. Many women are told that no matter what they do, they will never get rid of extra fat around the waist, including Gina Florio from Pop Sugar. She recently did a post where she shares her journey to achieving an hour glass shape even after being told several times by family that she’d never be able to do it.

According to her story, after many tries with juicing, dieting, exercise, and ab work, she was still unable to achieve a desirable figure. All of that changed, however when she started incorporating a few unexpected techniques. Now she admits that she does very little core work and has achieved a wonderful shape. Here’s what she found..

Front Squats: Yes, front squats are good for lifting the butt and toning the legs, but the core part of your boy is working too. Look at it this way, every exercise should be a core exercise. Although your legs and your glutes are working to push the weight back up, your core is an integral part of the movement.

Overhead Press: With this exercise, you’ll find that your core is a crucial part of the exercise. Try kneeling down with knees side-by-side, tuck your pelvis, and raise both dumbbells over your head.
