You’d think that the fitter an athlete is pre-season, the longer it takes for her to get injured—but that might not be the case. According to a new study, athletes’ pre-season training had no effect on their subsequent injury rate. But the type of sport did have an effect, as did gender: female athletes were injured more quickly than male athletes.

To avoid injury in your workouts, practice good posture, keep your face relaxed, tighten your abs to support your lower back and don’t lock your knees. Cheers to long, healthy, injury-free workouts!
