A team of Finnish researchers recently embarked on a novel experiment to map emotion in the human body. Using subjects from different countries they found that, across cultures, people experience sadness, joy, anger, fear and other feelings as physical sensations in the same body regions. Love, for instance, tends to center around the heart (naturally), happiness causes a full-body wash of warmth, and depression is associated with numbing in the arms and legs.
