Nostalgia—that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes with recalling fond memories—is natural and common. Most people engage in it about once a week. And that’s a good thing. A 2012 study found that nostalgia helps people relate their pasts to their present lives, giving them a sense of meaning, and connecting them with their loved ones. All of this leads to better moods, reduced stress, optimism for the future and higher self-esteem.
