According to a new study, turmeric can reduce depression and anxiety symptoms. This is due to the component, curcumin, in turmeric. Researchers conducted a double-blind study where participants, who suffered from acute depressive disorder, either took a placebo or the curcumin supplement twice a day for eight weeks. They found that, though the supplement reduced depression and anxiety symptoms in the acutely-depressed patients, the impact they had on those who suffered from common depression was much more significant.
