When we’re young, we usually don’t hesitate about taking any risks. For example, when we’re learning to walk. No matter how many times we fall, we get up over and over again until we nail it. For most people, this bravery is kept up throughout most of childhood where we try new things and take risks in order to grow. As we become adults and settle into our lives, we take fewer risks and before we know it we’re stuck in fear.

Are you familiar with the swaddle blankets babies are wrapped in at the hospital when their born? It’s used to keep their arms and legs close to their body so they feel secure and protected like their still inside the womb.

How many times as an adult are you still wearing your swaddle blanket? Where you’re keeping yourself in a certain place so you feel safe and secure? According to Master Life and Business Coach, Christian Mickelsen, this actually prevents you from accomplishing as much as you want.

“People don’t get far in life by playing it safe. You have to take risks, go for it & make your dreams come true.”

How do you know if you’re still wearing a swaddle blanket? Ask yourself these questions…

  • Do I make ambitious goals?
  • Am I working towards any of my ambitious goals?
  • Do I do things that are out of my comfort zone?
  • When I do things that are outside of my comfort zone, do I keep going or do I run back to what feels safe?
  • Do I encourage other people to follow their dreams?

If you’ve answered “no” to any of the questions above, you are wearing a swaddle blanket. Christian suggests to set your goals and make the steps to having your dream life.
