The internet continues to house the most innovative ideas for makeup applications. We’ve seen various techniques, including no-makeup-makeup and cloud skin, and now it’s time to make room for hot glue eyeliner.

What is Hot Glue Eyeliner?

Hot glue gun eyeliner has been circulating over the last few years thanks to its ability to add a 3D, digital element to makeup. AI-generated makeup looks have also been gracing various timelines, and hot glue can bring them to life in reality.

As stated in Dazed, one digital creator and makeup artist, Vanessa Funes, (@cutcreaser) is among the innovators popularizing this technique. Multiple artists have begun to put their twist on this metaverse-like makeup look.

Hot glue eyeliner is exactly what it sounds like – using hot glue to mold unique shapes and apply them to the face. However, it’s crucial to avoid applying hot glue directly to the face at all costs! Instead, use a mixing platter to maintain safety.
How to Master Hot Glue Eyeliner
Another advantage of the hot glue gun technique is its affordability and accessibility. Also, makeup lovers/collectors, probably have most of the materials.

You’ll need a hot glue gun, mixing plate/palette, and chrome nail powder or pigment.
Prepare the Glue
First, you’ll want to get your hot glue gun ready for action. Also, ensure you’re in a safe space to get messy if needed. Finally, it’s crucial to proceed cautiously when working with hot glue.

You’ll want to heat the glue to easily create various shapes to match your eye shape or the look you have in mind.
Create Your Shapes
Next, you’ll want to draw your shapes onto a mixing plate. Again, a metal mixing palette is ideal because it allows the hot glue to cool off, and you can easily remove it with tweezers.

You may even draw an outline with a marker or pencil on the plate as a guideline. However, it may take a few tries because hot glue is stringy in texture, and you may need to work quickly.
Add the Pigment
Once you’re happy with your designs, you can apply the chrome powder or pigment of your choice. Gently rub the pigment with an eyeshadow sponge or a brush for the most coverage.

Next, slowly peel off the 3D hot glue liner with tweezers. You may also use manicure scissors to refine the shape.
Secure with Lash Glue
What’s the secret to applying hot glue eyeliner to the face? It’s lash glue! Lash glue will adhere to various makeup accessories like eyelashes, rhinestones, and in this case, hot glue eyeliner.

Add a small amount on the back of the liner and press it onto the desired area.
Customize Your Makeup
Finally, you can customize your makeup to your liking. For example, pair this graphic 3D liner with eyeshadow that pops or balance it with a unique cheek & lip combo.
