We all go through phases of wanting to dye our hair a completely different color. Because nothing says change more than new hair color, right? Dying your hair is fun and exciting, but the real pain comes when you want to get your natural hair color back. There are different tips and tricks that people swear by for getting your hair back to its natural shade, and these are some of the best:

Grow your hair out
This one is probably the healthiest and cheapest option, but you have to deal with those annoying roots showing. You can also grow your hair out but still get highlights to make the stark contrast in color of your roots less noticeable. Balayage highlights will fade naturally into your hair, so you won’t even notice the roots when they start to grow.

Dye it your natural color
If growing out your hair and dealing with roots for a couple of months isn’t your thing, you can always just dye your hair its natural color. You can do this easily at home with box hair dye because even if the color isn’t perfect, you probably won’t be able to tell.

Get a haircut
When in doubt, cut your hair. If you’re super impatient and don’t feel like waiting for your hair to grow out to its natural shade, just cut it short! Just let your roots grow out at least 2 inches before going to the salon. You can then decide how short you want to go. And remember- it’s just hair! It’ll grow back.

Use high-quality products
Dyed hair is more prone to breakage and damage, so you want to be careful with the products that you use. While growing your hair to its natural color, you’ll want to use high-quality shampoo and conditioner. Avoid using heat on your hair and apply a nourishing hair mask at least once a week.

Try out root concealers
If you choose to grow your hair out, you’re going to have to deal with your roots showing. But don’t worry! There’s such a thing as root concealer! Root concealers are pretty much what they sound like- they conceal your roots and temporarily color them to the shade you want. They come in many different forms, like powders, sprays, and creams, and in a variety of colors.
