In this fascinating video by dutch filmmakers Lernert & Sander, supermodel Hannelore Knuts demonstrates exactly what a year’s worth of makeup wear looks like. To make it happen, the filmmakers applied 365 coats of makeup in the course of one day. According to Byrdie, that seemingly quick look required “nine hours, three lipsticks, seven bottles of foundation, and two bottles of cream blush and eye shadow.” That’s some serious dedication!

I’m pretty sure this film is meant to make us glumly reflect on the looks-obsessed nature of our culture, and yes, valid point, but it also just comes off as plain creepy to me. The expressionless floating face? The caked-on paper mache face that likens her to an eery, decades-old doll? I’ll steer clear of watching this late at night, thank you very much.
