The Black Lives Matter movement has quickly become one of the largest and most important movements for equality in recent times. Social media has proven to be a crucial component of the action. It’s used to amplify the voices of those enraged by our country’s systemic racism.

Social media is used to advocate for change and bring awareness to important issues and causes. Many celebrities are using their platforms as a way to encourage their millions of followers to enact change. You’ve probably seen most of the stars you follow post and speak about the Black Lives Matter movement, but these are some that have gone above and beyond:

Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande is no stranger to standing up for what is right. In addition to continuously posting about BLM on her social platforms, she has provided helpful resources to her followers and was at protests.

Billie Eilish
With a huge fan base and over 64 million Instagram followers, Billie Eilish definitely has a platform with an impact. She posted an honest photo writing out her feelings towards the movement, saying, “I have an enormous platform and I try really hard to be respectful and take time to think through what I say and how I say… but holy f*cking shit i’m just gonna start talking.” Well said, Billie. She has also been spotted advocating at protests.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas
In addition to frequently posting on social media and using their large following to advocate for change, both Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas were spotted at a peaceful protest in Los Angeles.

Halsey
Halsey used her social media to talk about her experience protesting in Los Angeles. She described the protest as violent, saying how they “fired rubber bullets at us. we did not breach the line. hands were up. unmoving. and they gassed and fired.” She then encouraged her followers to also advocate for change and donate to bail funds.

Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer spoke to her 9.6 million Instagram followers, explaining her thoughts on the movement and how it is now the time for the country to change and how we must speak up for that. She also gave an incredible speech to many cops at a protest in a video that went viral.

Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx attended a press conference in Minneapolis, the city where George Floyd was killed, to join alongside protestors. He posted a video of his trip to his Instagram, captioning it, “To everyone doing the work protesting, speaking, educating, signing petitions, thank you. For those who could only be there in spirit, we documented to let all of you have a glimpse into how beautiful it is when we all come together for a cause, the entire video is up on YouTube. The work doesn’t stop here, don’t lose steam. #BlackLivesMatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd.”
