We’re constantly searching for cool ways to reinvent upswept hair, but all too often we wind up with a perfectly respectable albeit boring top knot or not-so-respectable half pony. Braiding is a chic alternative if the fall 2014 runways of Alexander McQueen, Marchesa, Michael Kors and many others are any indication.We’ve turned to Andrea Donoghue of White Rose Collective, a braided hairstyle pro who’s worked the backstage scene for years and most recently supported Orlando Pita backstage at Michael Kors’ fall 2014 show.The Kors look was surfer girl meets big city by way of a loose French braided updo, a way chicer cousin to the braid of our cheerleading/volleyball/elementary school days.
