With the weather quickly cooling down and the sun setting earlier, the feeling of fall is in the air. And you know what that means… it’s time to put away our shorts and sandals and trade them in for jeans and sweaters.

Although I absolutely love the summer and warm weather, there’s just something about the fall that warms my heart. Pumpkin spice everything, changing colors, and just knowing that Christmas is approaching. But it’s always so upsetting putting away all the cute summer clothes I bought and locking them away for a year.

Except- what if you could still wear some of your summer clothes in the fall? Just because the weather’s getting colder doesn’t mean you have to completely eliminate all your summer clothes. Here’s how you can easily transition your wardrobe from summer to fall:

Keep your maxi dresses
Maxi dresses have been in style for a while now, and they’re the perfect clothing to keep from summer to fall. You just have to style them a little bit differently. Long slip dresses are super popular, and to style them for the fall, wear a long sleeve shirt underneath or a cardigan on top, and wear boots or sneakers with it instead of sandals.

Layers
In the fall, layers will be your best friend. As long as you add layers to an outfit, you can pretty much wear anything you’d wear in the summer in the fall. On a warmer fall day, just throw on an oversized cardigan over a pair of shorts or layer a long sleeve shirt underneath a tank.

Keep the blazers
Blazers have been super popular lately, and they’re the perfect piece of clothing to wear all year long. In the summer, we wore them with biker shorts and a tank top. But in the fall, we’ll wear them with jeans and booties. It’s as simple as that!

Sweatsuits are a year-round trend
Since athleisure is such a popular trend, we’ve been seeing tons of sweatsuits all over stores. This summer, it was very in to wear a sweatshirt with sweat shorts. And while the weather gets colder and you’re not able to wear shorts anymore, simply keep the sweatshirt and swap the shorts out for sweatpants.

Get a solid denim jacket
Personally, I think denim jackets are the perfect fall jacket. They’re light enough to wear while the weather is still a little warm but warm enough for colder days. Plus, denim goes with pretty much everything. Definitely invest in a good denim jacket to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.

Knee-high boots are in
The beauty of knee-high boots is that you can wear them with a skirt, shorts, jeans, or dress, and it’ll provide more warmth than a regular pair of boots. The easiest way to transition from summer to fall while still keeping your summer pieces is by wearing a pair of knee-high boots with the outfit.
