After a pill is swallowed, it travels down the esophagus to the stomach.  There, stomach acids dissolve the pill before the remaining medication moves to the small intestine.  From the small intestine, the medication is absorbed into the blood stream where it then travels to the body’s organs.  Watch this video to follow a pill through your body!
