What do you trust for good sunscreen coverage? Now that it's summer I'm wondering if I should wear it every day. Is it enough to get the SPF in my foundation?

I get my spf in my foundation too! I've always heard it works but you have to reapply every few hours. can get a little cakey...I apply twice a day. but if it's 15-30spf I think you're covered!

SPF in makeup is NOT enough. You'll never apply enough to get the full coverage. Also, if your makeup has chemical sunscreen in it, A) since it's not sitting on bare skin (because you're likely wearing something under it like moisturizer), it's not penetrating you skin and giving you coverage, and B) it starts breaking down the moment you put it on. If you're using mineral makeup or any makeup with physical blocking SPF like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, that sits on top of your skin and DOES provide SOME coverage. It doesn't degrade throughout the day and it doesn't need to absorb to be effective. It's not enough to count on as your sole UV protection, but it will help add a bit more protection, and every little bit helps. Finally, if you care at all about preventing sun damage and skin cancer, you MUST wear sunscreen every day of the year, rain or shine, even in the winter. The sun still shines in January, and 80% of UV rays come through on a cloudy day. One of my favorites for every day is 100% Pure tinted moisturizer with SPF. It has both zinc and titanium dioxide.

re: MaryJo246 - I wouldn't risk it. UV rays still come through the clouds.

I love spray sunscreen! I spray my whole body before I leave the house and carry it with me for touch ups throughout the day. It is super easy and quick to apply plus it adds a slight dewy glow. MY fave is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock SPF 70 (with helioplex broadspectrum uva-uvb)

I wear spf 30 or higher everyday. My foundation (when I wear it) has sunscreen as well. Do I have a favorite? I alternate between Clinique Super City Block and Eucerin Everyday Protection. I'm always on the lookout for something that is less chemical sunscreen and more what I would call "organic" (meaning titanium dioxide/zinc oxide) and also looking for something with no parabens.

i wear it everyday. the neutrogena 15 spf. its lightweight and absorbs fast this is good for me because my skin is oily. i also wear it under my foundation when i do wear it its great with my primer makes the foundation go on smoothly and my face look smooth.

No, most foundations and beauty products barely offer up to SPF-15, which isnot enough. You must use SPF 60. Stiefel's Sunblock 60 is good and cheap too. :] Since i come from a hot country, i use SPF-100 of Biobeacon. Its good, and non-oily. :]

No. I suggest using a moisturizer with a high spf, then using foundation on top of that.

Sunscreen is the #1 anti-aging product on the market. I highly recommend wearing a mineral based sunscreen (ideally zinc-oxide based) with an SPF 30 on a daily basis. What you are getting from your foundation probably isn't enough as most are SPF 8 - SPF 15. I'm the founder of Suntegrity Skincare so of course my favorite is Suntegrity All Natural Moisturizing Face Protection SPF 30.

It is not enough to get spf in your foundation because spf stands for how long it protects you! Mineral sunscreens are great because they don't clog your pores and some actually repair damage caused by the sun, yes look for a foundation with spf, but also try applying an spf before foundation. an spf that does double duty is great this way you limit how much product you apply to your face. I use nia 24 mineral sunscreen, and wow have i read reviews about it, its great, a good thing is that once you put it on you forget you have it on, its non greasy and I have been using for 3 months now, freckles and some spots are going away! try it, and come back and review it, i found it at a low price at thebeautyplace.com, has anyone tried nia24?

Figure out what exactly it is in sunscreen that you have an allergic reaction to. Otherwise just try to find makeup products with SPF in them.

And to everyone else saying get 60 or higher, there is no such thing. The highest SPF that can made currently is SPF45. so be careful what you buy.

I really like Sun Putty Face. Broad-spectrum protection that goes on clear. My complexion has cleared up dramatically since using Sun Putty; acne blemishes and brown spots have gone away. Water resistant to 80 minutes.

research the cons of sunscreen.. new studies available... i am allergic to sunscreen somewhat so i did some research,,, it is a chemical that we are told is needed  but it is chemical just the same. i do not trust cosmetic companies that tell us products are safe so i research my concerns... why do more harm! spf is loaded into everything anymore! it is hard to find makeup without it!
