A new study conducted at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill found that replacing high-calorie drinks with calorie-free alternatives—like seltzer, tea or water—can help your waistline. Participants in the study cut out soda but didn’t change anything else about their lifestyle or diet, and in just six months, they had shed about four or five pounds due to the swap.
