Calming Bath: In a study of patients with chronic inflammation, doctors found a 15-minute bath filled with rice actually helped the skin. A fave recipe includes 1 cup oats, 1 cup brown rice, 2 Tbsp loose black tea and 1 cup powdered milk. Combine in a bowl; then take half, place in cheesecloth, and tie into a pouch. Then steep in a hot bath (like a big tea bag) and get in.

Softening Hand Mask: A few brands have told the tale of rice farmers’ hands youthfulness – if you have the time (or if there is a big day coming up – i.e. wedding), you can make a hand mask at home. You’ll need homemade rice water; 1/2 a cucumber, chopped; 1/4 cup canned pumpkin; and 2 Tbsp coconut milk. Blend all ingredients well. Apply to the hands and put on gloves, leaving on for 15 minutes. Mixture will keep for four days and can be used on the face as well.
