Recently I had a gift certificate to spend at Space NK, a beauty/wellness boutique which stocks $$$ brands like Chantecaille, Tatcha, Laura Mercier and Diptyque.  But I headed straight for the Touche Veloutee undereye concealer ($59) by the brand By Terry, created by makeup artist Terry de Gunzburg. The Touche Veloutee is a highlighting concealer brush that is perfect for covering the dark circles under my eyes and looks illuminating, not cake-y. It’s just as impressive as the cult beauty product Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat — which makes sense, because de Gunzburg invented it. She eventually left YSL Beauté to start her own brand and every By Terry product I’ve tried, though expensive, actually works. If you sport big dark undereye circles like I do, save your pennies for this concealer that will always make you look like a human being.

hello toothpaste

The day that I found out that toothpaste came in flavors other than spearmint and peppermint was kind of life changing for me. Neither flavor is one that I like in my mouth (weird, I know) so I was psyched to learn that hello makes toothpastes in fruit flavors like Green Apple, Blue Raspberry and Mojito Mint. They have a slight minty taste to them, but the predominant flavor is the fruity one. I’ve been using Pink Grapefruit Mint and the aftertaste is pleasant, like you just chewed gum. Since hello toothpastes are also cruelty-free and vegan, they’ve definitely become my go-to brand going forward. Plus, hello is sold at Target, which is almost too easy.

Avene sunscreen lotion spray

Finding a sunscreen that you actually enjoy putting on is the only sucky part of summer. (OK, that and mosquitoes.) Make it easy on yourself and take my advice to get this one: Avene Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion Spray SPF 50 ($30) is safe for all skin types but formulated for sensitive skin. It protects against UVA/UVB rays, is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, and contains good-for-your-skin vitamin E. This Avene lotion spray is fragrance-, paraben-, alcohol- and oil-free, so it really does feel like you’re wearing nothing. It costs thirty dollars but totally worth tossing in your beach bag, in my opinion, considering how many boxes it ticks. Happy sunbathing!
