The news is out: Megan Thee Stallion is featured in Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood 2020 issue. Megan Thee Stallion is one of the hottest new artists and has definitely left a mark in the music industry. At just 25 years old, she sure has accomplished a lot.

She spoke with Variety about a myriad of topics, including her long list of future plans as an artist. However, one of the main conversations focused around the shooting incident involving Tory Lanez. The incident happened on July 16 supposedly following a fued between the two rappers. She suffered multiple gun wounds when he shot her from within a vehicle.

“I’m not the type of person who can stay down for a long time,” she told Variety. “I don’t like to be sad or keep myself in a dark place, because I know it could be the worst thing happening, but the pain and the bad things don’t last for long.”

Following the tragic incident, Megan discusseD how she’s trying to shift her focus on other things during her recovery. She’s currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health administration at Texas Southern University and wants to open an assisted-living facility after she finishes schooling. She’s working on writing a screenplay for a horror film. And she’s also working on a collaboration with Beyoncè. Megan and Beyoncè first met a few months ago at JAY-Z’s New Year’s Eve party, and their relationship has only grown. Beyoncè sang a remixed version of Megan’s hit song “Savage” in April.

“In the first five minutes of the conversation, I felt like I’ve been knowing her all my life,” Megan said about her first time meeting Beyoncè. “She treated me like family, and now I feel like I am family. We talk all the time.”

She also talks about her intentions on writing more music that focuses on the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I feel like everything that’s going on right now, if it hasn’t moved you to speak out or try to make some type of difference, then something might be slightly wrong with you,” she said. “Even though I haven’t already come out with a song with that messaging, I definitely plan on it.”

However, Megan also reveals how In addition to all the fame and fortune that comes with being a hit singer, there are some definite downfalls.

“The only thing I don’t like about having all eyes on you at all times is not all eyes are good eyes,” she the said in the interview. “I still want to be able to walk into Walmart and buy dog food. I still want to party in the club and nobody’s recording me and no super-judgey internet police are going, ‘Shame!’ But all that comes with it, and you have to be prepared for people to be in your business, 24/7.”

It looks like Megan’s career has only just started, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for her.
